NBN backhaul fibre links in QLD & FNQ – A birds eye view
NBN backhaul fibre links are displayed in the following three pictures, these national backhaul NBN fibre links connect cities, towns, states and territories in Queensland, Australia. The blue lines represent the fibre links, the red are the areas where homes and businesses will be able to connect to the NBN via a 100Mbit to 1Gbit fibre link. Finally, the white zones are the high speed wireless areas. As you can see on the maps below, this is quite a large project and not something that can be done overnight.
So far in Queensland three areas have fibre services available, they include: Aitkenvale in Townsville, Park Precinct in Brisbane and a new estate; the Grantham Rebuild Project in Toowoomba. Also there is one high speed wireless service available, that is in Blanchview, Postmans Ridge, Withcott (Toowoomba). Apart from that, there are fifteen areas in Queensland where constructions have already commenced and or is about to commence within a year. Work in the Cairns suburbs are scheduled to commence next month in August.
